Work

relationshipsWhile it may be obvious that work has a major impact on your finances, you might not be aware of some of the ways besides your paycheck that work can be affecting your finances. We need to work to make money, and we need money to pay the bills. But is that all there is to it? Is it perhaps time for a career change? Or would it be better to stay in the same career and make sure you are working on improving your skills? How can you turn something you are passionate about into an income source?

At iMoneyCoach, one of the things we stress is generating alternate income sources. This gives you a little more security and can also help you pay down debt faster and eventually put more into savings and investing. You can use your skills and passions to help generate that alternate income. For example, Brian really enjoyed fishing and also loved his son. He decided to put together a father-son fishing trip for several of his friends and their sons. He made all the plans, researched the best locations, and even packed lunches for everyone. They all had such a great time, he started planning these trips for other fathers and sons, and he was able to charge a fee. So this way he was able to make money, spend time with his son, and enjoy his favorite hobby all at the same time. Now, not every hobby is going to automatically make you money. But it is a good idea to think about all the things you enjoy or are passionate about and consider if there is a way you can make money by doing them.
