Personal
You may not have realized the impact that your personal life has on your finances. Both physical and emotional aspects of your personal life can have a heavy toll on your money situation. Being aware of their impact and how you can make improvements can change your fnances for the better and make you happier as well.
Here is an example of how a couple was able to work together to be healthy and save their finances: Sam and Joann were a relatively successful couple. They both worked hard and made good incomes, but they were incurring a lot of debt. Both Sam and Joann were overweight and suffered from low self-esteem. They tried to relieve their stress by going out to eat and shopping often. As they went through our financial life coaching program, we helped them realize that they needed to make some changes in their personal life if they ever wanted to be successful financially. They started making healthier meals at home and limited their eating out. They also started walking in their own neighborhood instead of the mall. As a result, they were less prone to make impulse buys and both were able to lose weight and start getting in shape. Not only did they see their debt load decrease because they were not spending as much on eating and shopping, but they achieved greater self-esteem. They were happier than they had been in years and commented, "Who would have thought that making changes in our personal life would be the key to fixing our finances?"
